Through designing the Badgir ring I have tried to recreate the structure of a particular wind catcher tower in Yazd. I have made the Badgir wearable and added 2 blue Topazes to it to represent one of the most prominent colors used in Persian architecture and also to convey the flowing feeling of the wind.

In the process of designing the Badgir ring, I tried to capture a nostalgic cultural element. The challenge being to remind Iranians of their cultural origins and also to introduce non-Iranians to the uniqueness of Persian architecture.
I decided a while ago to start a jewelry collection featuring different elements of my culture which I felt have begun to fade due to the takeover of modern lifestyles. I turned to traditional architectural structures for my first piece; hence the Badgir ring.

This design is inspired by one of the architectural masterpieces of Iranian architecture called "Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque" which is located in Isfahan.
The blue Topazes around the ring are representing the small windows around the dome enabling the sunlight to enter the interior side of the dome.
